FNA Wants Own Company in Saskatchewan
The group, Farmers of North America, wants to set up a farmer-owned grain company.
Bob Friesen, vice president of Government Affairs with FNA, says farmers are being asked for a non-binding commitment of 10 to 50 thousand dollars, depending on the size of their production.
So far, producers are showing a lot of interest in a farmer-owned grain company:
Part of the plan could be purchase of the former Canadian Wheat Board when it is privatized.
FNA is in the midst of building a farmer-owned fertilizer plant west of Regina at Belle Plaine at a cost of 1.7 billion dollars.
Production is set for 2017.
